Fractal Turtleship

Last time, I didn’t give a full detail of the fractal turtleship, NAM JUNE PAIK’s work.

And this time, I’ll show you every details of this work.

Standing exhibition throughout the festival ㅣ Special exhibition area in front of Admiral Yi Sunshin Statue.

(Visiting hours :
Weekdays- 15:00-16:00, 17:00-18:00
Weekends- 13:00-14:00, 15:00-16:00, 17:00-18:00)

Fractal Turtleship by the late Nam June Paik who originated the ‘art of light,’ was brought into the open square out of closed doors to mark the beginning of the festival representing Korea’s history, culture and high technology in the form of lights. Owned by Daejeon Museum of Art and occupying a space measuring 16m x 10m x 4m, the Fractal Turtleship is a video art installation created in commemoration of the 1993 Daejeon Expo.

Seoul, Delightful City

Yesterday, my friend and I went to the Sejong square(=광화문광장) to see 2009 Seoul Festival of Lights.

So this time, I’m gonna show you these amazing and dynamic sceneries made of lights!

Are you ready to see and feel this fantastic world?

Here are phenomenal views of the square *_*

↑This is “Media Performance” with very colorful lights and joyful music.

And the exhibition of video art in huge box(1st, 2nd) is NAM JUNE PAIK(백남준)’s work, the Fractal Turtleship(프렉탈 거북선).

백남준 is renowned as a video artist worldwide, and he was seleted by Times as the “hero of Asia.”


↑OH! There is another masterpiece of design made by lights.

I was sooo impressed with these delightful scenes
and I’m 100% sure that you’ll feel so hot because of its fatal attractiveness just like me. 🙂

↑Finally, These exhibitions’ all same motto was “World Design Capital Seoul”! It was held at Seoul square too.
